sausage puff pastry stars

Sausage rolls have always been a major hit at parties, but this year I wanted to try something a little different for an appetizer potluck my friends and I threw. So, after a little Pinterest browsing, I stumbled upon these “posh piggies” and they were just too cute for words. I knew I had to try them out!

You start by taking the sausage out of its skin (I know, ew), cut into small slices, and then, if you feel inclined, you can brown them quickly in a large pan on both sides. You don’t have to cook them through at this point because you’ll be baking them in the oven later on.

Then roll out some store-bought puff pastry and then use a small star cookie cutter to cut out as many stars as you have sausage slices.

Use a toothpick to secure a puff pastry star to each sausage slice.

Bake at 450 degrees for 25-30 minutes until the sausage is cooked through and the puff pastry has puffed up and turned golden brown.

Serve with dijon mustard, HP sauce, or ketchup and watch as these little stars get devoured by your friends!
